Since 1941, around the world and right here at home, the USO strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation.
Bob Hope USO provides USO services, programming and outreach at six centers and dozens of military installations across 51,000 square miles in Southern and Central California, from San Luis Obispo to the San Diego County Line.
An independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization operating under a charter from USO, Inc., we operate centers at LAX, Ontario International Airport, Orange County at John Wayne Airport, Palm Springs International Airport, Military Entrance Processing Station Los Angeles and at March ARB Deployment Center. Although Congressionally chartered, we are not a government agency and rely entirely on contributions from patriotic Americans and philanthropic corporations and organizations. Each year, we provide direct service to over 250,000 members of the military and their families.
From his first show at March Field in Riverside, California, in 1941, to his final USO tour in 1990 to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Desert Shield, Bob Hope, our namesake, loved to make the troops laugh.
We recognize that our troops and families are not only far away from home while stationed or training in our area, but very often far away from everything. Providing entertainment for our military service members and their families has always been at the heart of USO services and it continues today.

Bob Hope USO Centers
We support service members from the very first day they are in uniform until the very last, from worldwide deployments to round the world family moves, even in the midst of tragedies. Over 750 Bob Hope USO volunteers ensure that our troops feel the appreciation of grateful Americans, every day of the year.
Our complimentary sandwiches, snacks and beverages may seem like small comforts, but to our grateful military personnel and their dependent family members, visiting the USO means they need not wait in the often impersonal airport terminals frequently for many hours. It also means they have available for their exclusive use an array of facilities and services that include recreation areas, secure luggage storage, a theater with wide screen TV and a library of literally hundreds of current and classic films on DVD and video, a state-of-the-art Internet computer center, a fully-stocked free lending library, a well-equipped “Family Room” where children can relax and play games–or simply a place to take a nap. There are separate shower facilities for men and women, and a “quiet room” where exhausted troops are able to rest undisturbed for a few hours. Complimentary phone calls throughout the country on our “I-Freedom” telephone system allow our troops an opportunity to phone home during their visit.
Families of the Fallen
Bob Hope USO maintains teams of specially trained volunteers, on call 24/7, when service members make the ultimate sacrifice. In partnership with airport and airline officials, Bob Hope USO arranges for dignified transfers of remains and expedited service to new Gold Star Families in transit.
