Subject: Military Assistance Thank you in advance. Angel Larsen, Airport Center Manager Mike Teilmann Subject: Re: Military Assistance Angel Larsen, Airport Center Manager ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mon, 11 Aug 2008 5:06 am From: CDR RLY Mike: Wanted to thank you again for arranging Karri Turner's visit to 1 NCR. She was every bit as personable and supportive as you said. She was a great hit with everyone involved and had the desired effect of making the families feel special. Even during the CPX which followed last week, I am still hearing about how positive an experience the Seabees and their families felt our Family Day was. Miss Turner said she will see us again in Al-Asad in 2009 and would like to attend our homecoming event. What a delight she is! OOPS, must hurry to PT - it's already 0500 and I don't want to be late. Thanks again and God bless you, your staff, and your work. V/R CAPT RLY 10 Aug 08 Mr. Teilmann, Thank you to you and the whole staff there at the LAX USO. Organizations like yours are a tremendous morale boost for any service member. I stayed there during a 12-hour layover 4 Aug 08. This was the first time in more than 18 years of military service I had the opportunity to use a USO. What a great experience! I ate, showered, napped, used the Internet and had books, movies and games at my disposal all free, and what a great staff -- friendly and helpful. My Marine Corps MOS is combat correspondent (Public Affairs). Anything I can do as the Public Affairs Chief at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA to assist you will be our pleasure. Again, Thank you. Especially for accommodating Busu, our families cat. His first trip ever proved long and stressful on him (from Iwakuni, Japan to Quantico, VA). Sincerely, Dear Mr. Teilmann -- I'm a former active duty Air Force Officer (and now a Navy wife) who owns a business. I was flying to Monterey, CA from the East Coast this past weekend, and my flight was delayed because of weather. I was treated superbly by your staff during my unexpected layover at LAX; the Sunday evening crew greeted me warmly and made me comfortable, and the Monday morning staff were just as friendly and helpful. The LAX USO was a port during my storm. My stopover at the LAX USO has inspired me to volunteer at my USO here in Norfolk, VA. I cannot sing the praises of your staff more; I only wish I had written their names down so you could personally let them know how much I appreciated their kindness. Best Regards, R F-P The purpose of this correspondence is to express my extreme gratitude for the services rendered by the Ontario, CA USO. I flew into Ontario on 21 June 2008 enroute to a training rotation at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA prior to my upcoming deployment. The ENTIRE USO was absolutely fantastic. The four medical providers in my team were unable to procure transportation to Fort Irwin on the day of our arrival. With extremely short notice, the USO agreed to remain open and allowed my team to stay overnight. The facility and the level of service was first class! The entire staff obviously loves their mission and their service to our uniformed services...it showed in everything they did for us. It is usually easy to single out one or two outstanding performers, but this was the entire staff. Again, thank you! v/r, MAJ D H D, Hello, my name is LH and my son (Gerald) has benefited from your services during his recent travels. I wanted you to know the peace of mind it is for a Mom to know he is being taken care with things of such as, being able freshen up, resting, meals, and a place to hold out till he is set to travel again. He has told me of the many wonderful services and hospitality you and your workers provide to traveling soldiers. I have heard of the USO in times past but did not know it still existed. You organization is very valuable and a needed place during theses times. God bless you and thank you for all the comforts and services you have provided to my son and to all traveling soldiers. Again thank you, my son should be arriving sometime today to go to his next duty station. Please let him know he is greatly loved and missed. LH P.S. I wish that I had known about the USO during my time in the service 4/5/08 My son was at your USO location just a few weeks ago with a zillion other Marines being shipped out to their MOS schools. We had met him at the airport to spend time with him and see him off. That day we were saying goodbye to our son for the first time he would ever leave the state and his first time ever flying. He flew to North Carolina and arrived safely. Your location was perfect for us to keep his gear, have dinner, take him to the mall for extra items he needed and return to repack his gear and say our good-byes. It was a wonderful day but also an emotional day and the fact that your USO exists made it easier for all of us. But the fact that the USO staff was so kind and professional, caring and informative, not to mention happy people stood out as such a fantastic part of what could've been a more difficult and confusing day. We love you. God Bless you and all of your work. YOU are what America is all about. Thank you for your service past and present. Thank you for being there!! Love, The C/K Family Mr. Teilmann and crew, I recently had the opportunity to visit the Bob Hope USO in LAX. I want to express my appreciation for the volunteers and the use of the facility. Humble people all over the US are making life for the military much more comfortable. Thank you for your service! During March my family and I had the privilege of spending time between flights at the Bob Hope USO. I can not remember a time when I was treated so well and with such respect by any organization let alone by volunteers. On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. As I saw those young service people that passed through there, I was touched to know that they were being served by caring amazing people. Your service truly demonstrates Service Leadership through example. Thanks again, Thank you so very much for the kindness, consideration, and friendly assistance you offered me on my recent trips through LAX. I was a distressed/stranded traveler on my first visit to the LAX USO (20 JAN 07). I was unable to make my connecting flight and the standby flights for which I waited hours were overbooked and a no go! I was only traveling through for a two day USAR-ACES workshop/conference in Monterey, CA and was distressed that my travel plans and conference attendance were falling apart. Ms. Cummings went above and beyond in assisting me with discounted lodging accommodations for the night and provided me a toothbrush, toothpaste, and other personal hygiene items as I was without my luggage. Another volunteer (I apologize for not recalling your name), made me a sandwich and gave me a soda, which were much appreciated after such a long day. I was able to eat, relax, and re-charge my cell phone, as it was low from the numerous calls to update my boss and family of the problems and changes with my travel/lodging. I was also able to check my personal e-mail and print the confirmation of my new flight itinerary in a comfortable, safe, and friendly environment. Two days later I was back (an 8 hour layover in LAX on 22 JAN 07). I was greeted by the same two volunteers that had previously assisted me and two others. I was able to relax, read, and meet other travelers in the same comfortable and friendly environment. I just want you to know that your dedication, kindness, and hospitality are sincerely appreciated. Thank you so very much for everything! Sincerely, |
